Preset Digital
I really liked the SVG graphic with the shape divider and rocket launch.
Really makes the hero interesting to look at and the designer did a great job of carrying that feel throughout the site without it becoming “too much”.
There are some issues with link structure that can be fixed with z-index. The main CTA link on the homepage for instance is hidden behind the bottom divider, so you aren’t able to click “discuss your project” or “find out more”.
This seems like a very new site so I’m sure the dev will get it cleaned up soon. You can see the screenshot below:
Some good micro animations with the SVGS keep me scrolling so I like that. It’s a simple effective site.
The only other thing that I noticed – and this is just a personal preference, but I always like to see the subheadings be somehow stylized.
In the example below, just uppercase and adding a color to it really makes it pop. It is something I have always liked from the LearnUI class.
Eric Kennedy always pushes for smaller and bolder as an accent. Another thing that could liven it up is some sort of caret or icon on either side of the accent titles.
Atom 6 Studio
This one is very minimalist at times, and then very in your face at others. I really enjoy this site. One of the things that I would be concerned about (and I have it on some of my older sites) is the “typing H1”.
I haven’t dug too much into it, but I do know that having multiple H1’s isn’t great, so from an SEO perspective, if they care, it may be time to revisit the typing h1 as it doesn’t work semantically.
I don’t know that anyone has really figured out how to make that work, other than to fake the H1 and use the typing as just a decoration. I’m curious though, if anyone has any good research, I would love to read it!
They have a great CTA video that plays with a mouse interaction change. Pretty slick. I like that a lot.
The Case Studies section of the homepage did a good job of showcasing the diversity of their past work.
This overall website has some of my favorite components in it. I can’t wait to hopefully dive in and highlight some of these components when we launch that area of the site. Here’s a sneak peak at one.
This would be a section component, and we would feature it like this, and probably offer it as a download once we use it in a tutorial in our “how did they do that” series that is planned.
I love the movement of this page. It helps that they use real photography and not stock.
Bryckroad Creative
First of all, they nailed it with their color scheme. I’m a sucker for a good blue and orange/red color scheme. I loved the layout and initial call to action (more on that in a sec).
They do a great job with the CTA’s in the “footer” of the hero. I like that a log, and one you don’t see every day. That’ll definitely be a component that we feature.
When I started writing this up, I was actually shocked that the hero is just an image. So there is no H1 on the page. It goes H3>H2. I love the hero, but I would definitely redo it with HTML and CSS. I have something similar with the text box that was done on our Tools pages. Not exactly the same, but you could easily alter how you set that up here.
Other things I really liked about the Bryckroad site – I thought they did a great job with the case studies section. Case studies are hard. but it is always good when you can include some text detailing what it was that you actually did and they do a good job on that.
Their website design page is probably a better page than the homepage now that I’m diving deep into reviewing the site. This looks like they were building this as a landing page and it is really strong and well done.
The images on this page are super strong.
